Gay Boyfriend
I agree, both artistically and politically, with everything Thomas Rogers says about the increasing irrelevance and problematic nature of straight girls who claim gay guys as their personal property. But it made me think of a little tangent: am I the only person who really enjoyed Stanford and Anthony's New Year's smooch in Sex and the City (Yes, I saw the movie. With my college roommate. Shut up.)? I thought it was about the only moment where those two characters, long-term enemies who might as well have been wearing dog collars emblazoned with Carrie and Charlotte's names respectively through their runs on the show, really stepped away from the women who seemed to claim them and were seen to have lives, emotions, and impulses that were truly their own.
