Kanye v. Taylor

So, Kanye West is basically 12 years old:

And it was even stupider if this turns out to have been a stunt organized by their record label. Messing with a first-time winner, especially a poised young woman, is just plain rude. But oddly, I kind of sympathize with one of the sentiments in Kanye's non-apology apology.
I'M SORRY TO MY FANS IF I LET YOU GUYS DOWN!!!! I'M SORRY TO MY FRIENDS AT MTV. I WILL APOLOGIZE TO TAYLOR 2MRW. WELCOME TO THE REAL WORLD!!!! EVERYBODY WANNA BOOOOO ME BUT I'M A FAN OF REAL POP CULTURE!!!
Who hasn't been so infuriated by the results of an awards ceremony that they've hollered at the television for failing to recognize some various and sundry piece of artistic genius? Or regretted that there isn't a moment like the one in a wedding ceremony when you can get up and shout "I object!" at the top of your lungs? Sure, we'd all like to believe we wouldn't behave this way in public, but maybe we would, if given the opportunity. Taking pop culture seriously is not a crime, and Louis Vuitton Don posturing aside, Kanye's commitment to art and artistic innovation seems genuine. Dude tried to give OutKast an award he won that he thought they deserved in 2007. So even if ruining Taylor Swift's moment was graceless, it was something of an expression of consistency.
