Standing Still

Good advertising's rare, and advertising that says something other than what it intends to is even rarer. So it was fascinating for me to watch this Jay-Z ad:



His essential passivity is amazing even though without him, none of these images exist. But all of the details are basically imposed on him, other people are literally putting on and taking off his clothes and accessories in certain shots. It's a fascinating little meditation on the interaction between superstars and their handlers, and it happens without a word.
