Wild Thing

So, I saw Where The Wild Things Are at a preview screening last night.  And I guess this proves that I don't hate everything, because I definitely enjoyed it.  I have to save the details for the piece I'm writing for The Atlantic, but it's visually beautiful: I was particularly impressed by the camera work in two parallel scenes towards the beginning and end of the movie.  And the voice work, particularly by James Gandolfini and Lauren Ambrose, is wonderful.  I adore Gandolfini, and am tremendously excited for his career to take off as it so richly deserves to do post-Sopranos.  I never got into Six Feet Under, but Ambrose is tremendously appealing, and while it's hard to have a star turn when you're voicing a fur suit, she just might manage it.
