Looking For Him

Dude, I've been waiting for a full version of "Lookin 4 Ya," the Andre 3000-Big Boi joint theoretically off Sir Luscious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty (due next month, guys!) for literally six months since a verse of it leaked earlier in the year. Sadly, the song's not going to be on the album, which is coming out on Def Jam, since OutKast is signed to Jive, which has the right to release any of the collaborations between the two men.  But the full song is out (mediocre quality, sorry), at least, and it's even better than I expected. This particular lyrical fragment especially stuck in my ear: "Me and you have been digging each other now for so long / Like an archaeologist looking for bones / We used to do it to the slow songs."  It's not quite the intense precision of "Millionaire" or anything, but it's Andre in full loverman form.

Speaking of which, between him and Cee-Lo, I'm in heaven this week. I'm kind of wondering if we could lure Three Stacks back into the game by challenging him to match or exceed Cee-Lo and make a full album, with Big Boi or without.  From the sound of this, his skills are in finer form than I might have expected, given his absence from the scene. I'm sure he doesn't have to work--IMDb doesn't have him lined up for anything on the movie side, either. But just for the sake of my own pleasure, I'd like to hear more from him, and soon. B.o.B. and Cee-Lo have their singular charms, and hell, Lo may be the Long Term Guy in my life as a music listener. But Andre's a first love. You can't just let that go.
