I don't think I posted about the You Again trailer when it came out because it just made me far too sad:
First off, can we please get over the notion that the horrible things that happened to you in high school stay with you forever as the defining moments of your existence and you never have an experience or growth that lets you put them in perspective? Does no one in Hollywood go to college, have fun, have a lot of sex, develop a lot of consequence, and march out into the world and generalized awesomeness? It's just plain bizarre. There is literally a girl who slugged me in middle school, landing both of us in counseling, who now is a pretty interesting painter and I'd sort of like to be in touch with again. I am living proof this model of human growth is wrong, and I cannot possibly be the only one.
Also, does Kristen Bell's character have no relationship with her brother whatsoever? As someone with an amazing brother, it breaks my heart to think that a) they would have so little relationship he'd get engaged to someone who hurt her so badly b) that she wouldn't be first and foremost concerned with his happiness instead of playing out old grudges. I would really like a great brother-sister movie sometime soon, Hollywood people. And I bet a lot of other folks would too.
And finally. Jamie Lee Curtis. Sigourney Weaver. I love you both. PICK UP YOUR ACTS. THIS IS EMBARRASSING.
