Dream Job
So, regular season football is lurking around the corner. And for me, that means the return of Tom Brady, the Patriots, and commercials starring Peyton Manning. I hated Peyton for years. Just couldn't stand the guy. And while his brother, whose name shall not be mentioned here, has replaced him in my disdain, the thing that really did in my dislike for Peyton was the Priceless Pep Talks with Peyton Manning ad campaign. They were light, funny, but never trying too hard, and Peyton pulled them off perfectly. And I have to admit that over the years, I've become convinced that Peyton's next act should be a series of buddy comedies with Vince Vaughn. They'd be great, right? Owen Wilson's comedic touch seems gone, Vaughn's starring too often as somebody's husband, he needs another sidekick. Peyton'd be perfect, someone who can physically hold his own against Vaughn, who has a nice, self-mocking sense of himself as an actor. And really, if this whole journalism thing doesn't work out, what I really want is to write those scripts.
