Tom DeLay is going on Dancing With The Stars. This is pathetic on so many levels that I don't know where to start. To be sure, a man who went by the political nickname "The Exterminator" may never have valued dignity very highly. But he was House Majority Leader at one point, and no matter what you thought of DeLay's tenure in that office, that has to count for something. I understand that, given the craziness of our political system and political coverage, the democratic process frequently is reduced to entertainment rather than substance. But that really doesn't mean adding sequins and feathers and flashy moves to the equation is a logical extension of the problems of American politics.
